Hail Storm in July

This Storm came about lunch time yesterday. We are not used too having storms in July. Once the temperature dropped and the rain started so did the hail.

You just don't know what Mother Nature has install for us when a storm appears on the horizon.

Just as well the hail was small. Even though the storm did not last long it was enough to fill my leaf catcher for my water tank with ice.

Run down the Beach

Here is a video of a trip we took early this year, the beach had just repaired itself after some wild seas took its toll on the coastline. The beach looked smooth but a bit different when it came to driving on it though. Hope you enjoy the trip as much as we did on the day.

Wildflowers

Have been out and about again this time with a group of people all looking for Wildflowers in Cooloola National Park. Just as well the flowers aren't camera shy. Sometimes it pays to stop and look around when you go for a drive through the country instead of going from A to B with no stops in between. Just look at what we found when we took the time to get out of the car and go for a walk. We always found something different at each site. I am sure the flowers think it is Spring and not the middle of Winter.

Bat Colony

This colony of Fruit Bats is small (15,000) compared to some in S E Qld. There are two permanent species, Grey-headed and Black. The Little Red Flying Fox comes during the summer months for a short time too, then moves on. It feeds on nectar.Small part of the Colony

Backyard Birds

Town Beach or Bush there is always something to see or hear Out and About in Cooloola
Most people hear the male Koel but I was lucky enough to video this female when she landed in our backyard.
It is surprising what birds come and visit when you take the time to look around your own backyard. I have managed to get quite a few species on video.
