Birds in the Fog

We have had almost a week of heavy fog in the mornings, sometimes lasting till near midday before clearing.

Black-faced Cuckoo-shrike (Coracina novaehollandiae)

Australian Magpie (Gymnorhina tibicen)

The Cuckoo-shrike and Magpie both seemed to be waiting for it to lift.

Little Corella (Cacatua gymnopis)

Unlike this flock of Corella's that were heard long before they were seen.

Sorry about your heavy fog - but it has made for some interesting photos. btw the fog doesn't last all that long down here :-)

Hi Mick you would have liked it the other day we had rain coming down through the fog.

The mist isn't too bad, you can still see the birds. :-))

Thanks Gwendolen could only just see them.

Sometimes you can see the birds better with the camera than with the eye. Amazing how patiently they just sit and wait, isn't it?

Yes Wren a lot more can be seen through a photo than the eye.

Thanks Tabib just lucky they came in close for me.

dont know why, but lots of parrots love thick mist and fly about squawking and playing in it - some great photos in tough conditions!

Happy birding

...the fog is really neat and almost makes the magpie look sinister!

At least you were able to get some good shots despite the fog, Neil. For a while here we had the same gloomy conditions and I just stopped going out to bird altogether. :P

You have just identified for me a bird I saw last w/end for the first time - the black-faced cuckoo shrike. :)

I love the first shot of the Black-faced Cuckoo-shrike Neil. Amazing to get a photo like that in those conditions, especially of a black and gray bird! Nice job!

Some gorgeous birds here on your blog! Nice photos!

I really like the gray-on-gray of that Cuckoo-shrike, Neil. The detail on the full-size image really did come out nice in spite of the foggy conditions. Great BPW post!

Glad my photos helped with the ID Madahmas.
