Restless Flycatcher

A pleasant surprise today. A rare visitor to our garden, this Restless Flycatcher was first heard and then tracked down to the overhead power lines outside our house. The Restless Flycatcher is sometimes known as a Scissors Grinder due to its' call being like the sharpening of scissors on a glass bottle.

You're getting a nice selection of birds going to your place! And I'd love to hear how this bird sounds -like scissors grinder - interesting.

Wow, congratulations on capturing this bird with an interesting name. Also I'm trying to imagine what it sounds like ... scissors being sharpened? hmm..

Great captures of the Restless Flycatcher Neil! I really enjoy watching flycatchers follow their namesake as they so gracefully do their aerial maneuvers.

This species resembles the coloring of our Tree Swallow here in the US. I would love to see it in flight. I imagine it is very graceful.

...I'm laughing a bit at myself. I didn't know there was a "Restless Flycatcher." I assumed you were going to show a photo of a "restless" flycatcher hoping around or something on his perch. Made me laugh...beautiful photos!!
