Galahs in a Gum Tree

On a stroll down the Tin Can Bay Foreshore Birdwalk today, we came across this pair of Galahs checking out a nesting hollow. The Rainbow Lorikeet above them seemed a bit annoyed.

Galah (Cacatua roseicapilla) - Rainbow Lorikeet (Trichoglossus haematodus)

Rainbow - "Hey you pair, I was there first!"

"It seems about the right height off the ground"

"What do you think?" "Yes, it looks promising"

Great photos and captions. They are beautiful birds. It's not the same as in the wild but I saw the Lorikeet and Galahs and some others at the Australia exhibit in the Baltimore Aquarium yesterday.

My money's on the galahs to win the real estate battle between them and the lorikeets.

The lori should know that you have to move quickly when you find the right property for your home. Better luck next time, but meanwhile, more tales of the galahs!
