Tawny Frogmouth

It pays to come home late on some nights. Found this Tawny Frogmouth sitting on the post that holds up a shade sail beside our house. I was able to get very close to this bird as it just sat there and looked at me.

Nice shots! I'm starting to think I'm the only person that doesn't see frogmouths.

Doesn't look like he has any intention of letting you chase him away - just the opposite, perhaps.

Great bird, and the photos is so clear and steady for being taken late and in the dark.

Thanks Wren he was back last night sitting on the wires near the light pole I tried again for photos but they were no good to use.

Super shots of the Tawny Frogmouth Neil! What a cool looking bird. I hear they are easy to miss out in the woods as they look just like the tree!

Neil said...

Yes Larry they are very hard to see at times in the bush at least this one is in town not sure where it hangs out during the day.

Great shots! For all of their strangeness, I've always thought frogmouths are kind of pretty. They have beautifully patterned feathers.
