Sacred Kingfisher

Have been lucky enough to have this pair of Sacred Kingfisher decide to make the tree in our next door neighbors yard a possible home to raise a family. Here's hoping! I have been watching them on and off for most of the day making the nest hole bigger, and they are very hard workers.

I was hoping to post a video of them, but have been unable to get it to load in blogger. If anyone can help me out that would be good. I have done all the things that blogger has said and it still will not load.

Sacred Kingfisher (Todiramphus sanctus)

Home in progress.

Beautiful birds - and you are very lucky! I don't have a nice backyard that entices birds to me - I have to find them out in the bush!

Wow Neil, this is so cool! I would be ecstatic to have a pair of these guys in my backyard! I would love to see the video too. Have you tried uploading it to You Tube, then posting the code into blogger?

It is interesting that this species nests in tree cavities. Our Kingfisher here nests in a burrow dug into a river bank.

Are you able to upload to youtube and add the youtube video to your site? That may be the easiest way to accomplish it.

That would be awesome to have those beautiful birds nest near your home. Great photos Neil!

Thanks Mick your backyard is nice it just has to get a lot older.

Thanks Larry and MaineBirder will try You Tube and see if that works.
