Mary Glen cont.

These are some of the birds recorded on our second visit to Mary Glen during the Winter survey for Bird Trails.

 Australasian Pipit (Anthus australis)

Eastern Great Egret (Ardea alba) 

 Golden Whistler (Male) (Pachycephala pectoralis)

Purple Swamphen (Porphyrio porphyrio) 

Restless Flycatcher (Myiagra inquieta)

Nice selection of pictures Neil. That pipit would present some identification problems to me - theree are just so many of the larger pipits. I'm going to Google it and thanks for your picture.

Great birds and nice to see their habitat and the birding trail. The Golden Whistler is one of my favorite but I also love the Flycatcher! Happy birding and have a great day!

the flycatcher is really striking! the swamphen is like what we call a purple gallinule. really unique.

Nice assortment of birds. Our American Pipits are just arriving here in Illinois. Back home in Florida, our home was nearly at the center of the first released of Purple Swamphens that are now spreading widely despite an extermination campaign.

What a lovely variety you found. I also enjoyed your post previous to this one, of the birds of prey at Mary Glen. Really like the one of the Spotted Harrier standing on the branch.
