With all the rain around it was nice to be able to take advantage of a break in the weather to visit Lake Alford to see what birds were around. The last time we were there a lot of the birds were starting to breed, and this time some were gathering nesting material as well. The photos of the Cattle Egret,Great Egret and the Night-Heron were taken in mid December, the rest were taken last Sunday. There were a lot of young Moorhen everywhere. The Silver Gull was a big surprise for us, as we only see them when we go to the coast. A new bird for the Lake Alford List!

Great photos and a really great variety of birds. It is especially interesting to see the Great Egret in breeding plumage and also the Nankeen Night-Heron.
Hello, WOW awesome variety of birds and great photos. My favorites are the Little Corella and the Little Pied Cormorants.
Amazing collection of birds and wonderful photos. I loved them all but the Black Swans have always been special to me. I have seen them in their transplanted places but it is a dream of mine to see them in their own world. Thank you for sharing them.
That Egret is gorgeous..Wonderful pictures, Neil
Beautiful birds!
Hard to pick a favorite, but the Cattle Egret is really special.
Nice to see somebody being pleased to see a silver gull - that can't happen too often! Love that first shot of the Black Swans.
