Red-capped Plover and Friends drop in during the May Wader Count
Double-banded Plover (Charadrius bicinctus)
The Double-banded Plover has migrated from New Zealand to spend the Winter here in Australia.
Red-capped Plover (Charadrius ruficapillus)
It was very interesting to have a flock of about 90 waders come and land almost at my feet and to be able to watch their behavior. When they first landed they all crouched low down, and seeing that I was not a threat went about their business.

Great photos - they are such cute little birds and so much fun to watch. Your video perfectly captures their antics!
Glad to meet these wonderful creatures. Thanks
Hello!:) Good job of filming these pretty birds. Love those Red-capped Plovers.
I do like Plovers, and that's a new one to me. Great pictures!
I had a Kentish Plover here in the UK a week or so ago. Quite a rarity.
Birds always have a lot of friends. Thank goodness.
Helo, the Red-capped Plovers are so cute. Great series of photos. Happy Wednesday, enjoy your day!
The red-capped plovers are just wonderful. Admire your ID knowledge for the shorebirds -- they are so hard for me. (Although I think even I would learn and know that red-capped !)
I love watching shorebirds (we just got back from a trip to the beach and I hope I got a few decent pictures. They make me happy just to see though!)
Great photos of these pretty birds. I could look at these all day.
The Red-capped Plover (Charadrius ruficapillus) I've never seen. In the Netherlands, this beautiful bird never before. Wonderful to see. Your video is very very nice!
Lovely pictures! Happy weekend!
What wonderful birds you have there! Nice to see they'll be staying with you this winter. How exciting to observe an entire flock.
I love this little plover. As I do all plovers. But I never see them where I live. Great to see your shots :)
