Little Eagle

When we got up the other morning, we were wondering what all the birds were going mad at. After a quick look around, I found this Little Eagle in one of the trees being mobbed by all the Crows, Magpie larks, Noisy Miners, and anything else that could join in.
 Little Eagle (Hieraaetus morphnoides)

 Torresian Crow (Corvus orru)
There were at least 30 Crows that came from near and far to see if they could chase the Little Eagle away, all to no avail, as the Little Eagle ignored all that came close.
Thanks Ollie, we did some further checking.

Awesome bird, but I think that it is possible that that is in fact an unusual Little Eagle, due to the more pronounced beak, and the lacking of bright greenish blue eyes and a facial disk, characteristic of a Southern Boobook. It may be another raptor, as it is hard to see clearly, but Southern Boobooks are a lot smaller and have different Chest colourations, with Juveniles being somewhat similar to this bird, but with paler belly markings. Love that bird though, lots of power in it!
Cheers,
Ollie Scully.

Lovely birds and great photos - I wouldn't have any idea what it is called but I just know you took some good photos of it!

it is not easy to be a raptor. Being mobbed always. Love your shots of real birdlife :)

Good photos of this little guy. Glad he stood his ground against the blackbirds.

Isn't nature amazing!?!!! Beautiful images, and fantastic narration. It was like I was there with you all hearing the ruckus of the crows. Nice sighting of the eagle.

What a great bird! It is funny to see when little birds harass the larger raptors. It sounds like they really ganged up on this guy, but he held his own.

With all this commotion the eagle must feel very powerful!

If I was an eagle I'd enjoy snubbing the crows too.
