This male King Parrot decided to pay us a visit the other day and by the looks of it the Rainbow Lorikeets would have preferred he did not come at all.

Great photos of the King Parrot. Wish one would come into my garden again.
ReplyDeleteThe rainbows are just bullies Neil, they scoot the kings from any seed we put out too.
ReplyDeleteThanks Mick they will visit you again in time.
ReplyDeleteYes Duncan the rainbows are bullies but the King Parrot stood its ground and the Rainbows left first
They are beautiful birds. I like the lorikeets too. A kookaburra visited me this week.
ReplyDeleteThanks Diane for your comments.
ReplyDeleteWonderful photo of the King Parrot. What a cool and colorful bird.
ReplyDeleteG'day Neil,
ReplyDeleteIsn't the male Kingy a wonderful photo subject? A perennial delight. I always look forward to their return around here.
Regards,
Gouldiae.
Thanks Eileen and Gouldiae they are great to have around.
ReplyDeleteOh man! Those are really beautiful birds!
ReplyDeleteThanks Bob & Cynthia they are very beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThey are both beautiful species, but I think you're right about the Lorikeet's opinion of the parrot. If looks could kill ...
ReplyDeleteThanks Wren for your comment.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful rainbow colours.
ReplyDeleteThanks Tabib they are beautiful rainbow colours.
ReplyDeleteBoth the Lorikeets and the King Parrot are incredibly gorgeous birds and I think Wren is right. That second photo looks as if the Lorikeet is ready to take a bite out of the King Parrot. The last shot really shows off the King Parrot's colors.
ReplyDeleteThanks Larry for your comment.
