Chestnut-breasted Mannikin

It is not always easy to take photos of some birds, in particular Chestnut-breasted Mannikin, as they are usually in flocks, and when one takes off they all go. These ones were more intent on feeding and allowed me to get fairly close.

  3. Nice photos Neil. The species seems to have a very chunky bill (we don't have Mannikins in the UK).

  6. many years ago, i raised finches. i got a few pair of black and white mannikins. they were fierce during mating season and had to be separated. very sad! but they were beautiful birds, just like these chestnut-breasted.
