Brown Goshawk.

Winter is well on the way more frost coming this week.

This Brown Goshawk has been hanging around for a while now, and at last landed in the mango tree long enough for a quick photo before taking off again.

  1. I like the colouring on the Goshawk. That is certainly not something I see down this way but neither is the frost! - or not very often :-)

  2. How Lucky to have such a visitor! Such a beautiful bird. Unfortunately we have also had the visits from the frost on the darling downs.

Also enjoyed the mixed bag of birds in the earlier post ... slow internet connection, so will combine comments . Thanks for both posts.

  14. That eye looks so fierce. It reminds me of one of my encounters. In New Mexico while looking for a Goshawk nest in its known territory I squeaked like a rabbit, not realizing I was actually right under its nest. It did not attack, but looked so fierce that I just ducked down and crept away.

Hard to imagine your cool temperatures as central Florida is steamy and hot.

    Take care.

Sorry for the much delayed reply - I've been in the UK for a month and I decided to let the blogging take a back seat - normal service will resume very soon!
