Waders at Inskip Point

After all the wet weather we have been having recently, it was good to have clearer skies. This gave us an opportunity to get out and catch up with Mick again at Inskip Point to see the waders before they leave us on their Northern migration. We were not to be disappointed. Many were well into the early stages of their breeding plumage.

The Bar-tailed Godwit above and Beach Stone-curlew below were taken the following weekend during an outing to Inskip with some Birds Queensland members. One member really wanted to see  a Beach Stone-curlew.

 It is amazing just how long the bill is on the Eastern Curlew.

    Great photos of all the birds. It is not often that we get an opportunity to see so many out at Inskip any more. I especially like the 2nd pic of the godwit and great knot. Fantastic to capture a pic of the dolphins as well.

    The Beach Stone Curlew is a new one for me. Love all the wading birds on the beach and wow to the Dolphins.

    Fabulous photos! No. 6 is my favorite though because of the sharp quality of every feather, and yet it isn't a macro of one bird, it's an entire flock!

    Wow! So many shore birds! You have some great birds on your shores, and I particularly liked to see the Beach Stone-Curlew, one I have never seen. A lovely collection of images!:)

    I totally missed the waders this year! Hopefully next year I will be well recovered from my surgeries of 2014!
