I think this is the first time I have come across a Buff-banded Rail in a tree, every other time they have been on the ground heading for cover.

It was a very hot day, and the Mangrove Honeyeaters found some water under one of the picnic tables to drink and have a bath to cool down.

Interesting to observe the proportion differences between the Greater and Lesser Sand Plovers too. And what a great rail shot - such a pretty bird when not seen half blurred, disappearing into grass ;)
Great photos and that was a very profitable count of species at Mullens. I especially like the photos of the Rail.
Great variety of birds photographs. Love all the waders, Tern and the Rail
Great shots of water birds. I love the Buff Banded Rail. I have never seen one here, though we do apparently get them. Must keep an eye out when I visit the local wetlands. Thaks for sharing.
Very nice bird photos. I especially like the Buff-Banded Rail!
Hello!:) Loved all your pictures!
Beautiful shots! Loved that first bird, and the honeyeater too. Awesome-looking birds!
The waders are fun and look familiar -- either the same or very similar to the ones we see. But the beautiful Rail and the honeyeater are so different (I've seen the honeyeater on either this blog or one of your 'neighbors' but don't remember the Buff Banded Rail. A new one for my virtual life list (LOL).
