In search of Freckled Duck

After hearing about the rare Freckled Duck at Lake MacDonald, Cooroy, on the Sunshine Coast, we decided to try and find them. After our first unsuccessful attempt last month, we thought we would try again. This time we were lucky enough to see four Freckled Duck, and as an added bonus, a Comb-crested Jacana appeared right in front of us.

Lake Alford

What to do on a cold and bleak day, stay home or go out to the local Duck ponds?
Thanks Mick for coming all that way to look and hopefully get photos on a day like today.

Whistling-Duck & Jacana

Went for a quick drive to check out one of the local waterholes today and found this flock of Plumed Whistling-Duck.

Comb-crested Jacana (Irediparra gallinacea)

You can almost always find Comb-crested Jacana at this spot, even though they might be on the other side of the water like this one was.
