Jabiru

Was lucky enough to come across this Jabiru on Moreton Island while waiting for the barge to take us back over to Stradbroke Island.

Wow! That is one interesting looking bird. In the first shot I thought his head/bill was all black, but in the sun it seems like his head/neck is iridescent green? He reminds me just a touch of our Wood Storks. Lovely photos....

Great series of shots, Neil. The sheen on the neck is just lovely.

I've seen them in zoos, but not in the wild. It's a special treat when you do!

Thanks Wren it is always good to see them in their own environment.
