Black and White.

This family of Pied Butcherbirds did a good job of pest control on this wasp nest hanging off our next door neighbours' house.

Pied Butcherbird (Cracticus nigrogularis)

This one came to see if we had anything for him.

Aerial attacks

Yes the bird did survive, the wasp did not.

Making sure there is none left behind.

This bird ended up pulling down the nest and dropping pieces to the ground.

This Magpie tried to join in on the feast.

Very nice series of photos - especially the in-flight photos!

Great captures of both the Australian Magpie and the Pied Butcherbird Neil. I really like the shot of the Butcherbird splayed out between the blinds. You really get to see the beautiful design on its back.

Not sure of this is for Bird Photography or not, but what interesting birds. I didn't know any would take on a wasps nest.. Michelle

Thanks Mick, Larry and Michelle I did not think they would either.

Great photos - I particularly like the one of the butcher bird in flight, with the wings fanned out and catching the light.
