Caspian Tern

Came across this flock of Caspian Terns while waiting for the ferry on Stradbroke Island. There was also a large flock of Pied Oystercatchers with them. As we got closer to the flock, Eastern Curlew and Bar-tailed Godwit flew off. We thought that maybe they have not long arrived back as they were not at this site two days before when we checked it out.

Great captures Neil! I especially like the first shot with all the Caspian Terns in different poses. It reminds me of people at a party!

Now you've given me the itch to drive down to Cairns to spot waders from the Esplanade!

Thanks Larry it was a bit warm on that day and I think they were trying to stay cool.
Thanks Snail it would be interesting to see what waders you can pick up from your end of Qld.

Interesting photos as I only see one or two Caspian Terns at a time here.
